How to Measure Your Flagpole for the Right Collar Size:

Many people wrap a rope or tape measure around the base of their flagpole to get the size — this gives you the circumference, not the diameter.

To find the correct diameter (the number you need for the collar size), simply divide the circumference by 3.14 (π).
Example: If the rope around your pole measures 27″, divide by 3.14 → your pole has a diameter of about 8.6″, so you’d want a collar that fits a 9″ pole.
